Danzol Cream – Ketoconazole 2% cream is an antifungal cream used to treat a variety of fungal infections of the skin, scalp, and nails. It works by inhibiting the growth and reproduction of the fungal cells by interfering with the cell membranes.

The cream works by blocking the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal membrane. Without ergosterol, the fungal cell membrane becomes weakened and more permeable, leading to leakage of essential cellular components and ultimately fungal cell death.

Danzol Cream can be applied topically to affected areas on the skin, scalp, or nails. It is important to use the medication as directed by your doctor.

What Is Topical Ketoconazole Used For?

Topical ketoconazole is commonly used for the following conditions.

• Ringworm on the body, scalp, feet, and groin
• A fungal infection of the skin called tinea (pityriasis) versicolor
• A yeast infection of the skin, known as cutaneous candidiasis
• A skin condition known as seborrheic dermatitis

Topical ketoconazole may not be appropriate for some of the infections listed above, depending on which germs are causing the infection. Fungi in some locations may have developed resistance to topical ketoconazole, which will make it not work as well.

Topical ketoconazole may also be used for other conditions as determined by your healthcare provider.

Side Effects of Danzol Cream

Common side effects of ketoconazole 2% cream are –

• Burning, irritation, itching, or stinging where it is applied
• Dryness
• Redness

Directions for Use

• Clean and dry the affected area of the skin before applying the medication.

• Do not cover the affected area with a bandage or other dressing unless directed to do so by your healthcare provider.

If you observe any allergic reaction, seek medical attention immediately.

In case you have a history of liver or kidney damage, inform your healthcare provider about it.

Be aware of getting ketoconazole into your eyes. It may cause irritation and stinging. Ask for help from your healthcare provider.
